So we can help quickly, please include: your device model (for example, iPhone 15), your iOS version, the mode you were using (Sport, Business or Family), whether you were connected over WiFi or Bluetooth, and what happened versus what you expected.
Getting started
- One person hosts. In Sport or Business mode, the host creates a session and shares the join code shown on their screen. In Family mode, tap Start a Conversation and people nearby can join instantly, no code needed.
- Everyone else joins. Joiners pick their language once, then hear and read everything in that language.
- Speak naturally. Hold the microphone button (or tap to toggle) and talk. Your words are transcribed, translated and spoken aloud on every connected phone.
TeamRelay has three modes, chosen when you first open the app (you can change it later in Settings): Sport (coach, assistant and player roles), Business (presenter and attendee roles) and Family (an open conversation where anyone can speak).
Devices can't find each other
- Make sure both phones are on the same WiFi network, or that Bluetooth is on and the phones are close together.
- Check TeamRelay has Local Network permission on every device: iOS Settings → Apps → TeamRelay → Local Network.
- Some hotel, school and office guest networks block device-to-device traffic. If a shared network refuses to connect, switch both phones to the Bluetooth option, or use a personal hotspot.
- If a session was left open on another phone, close the app on both devices and start again.
Languages and translation
- TeamRelay supports 14 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic and Turkish.
- Translation runs on-device using Apple's translation models. The first time you use a language, iOS downloads its model (roughly 500 MB), which needs an internet connection once. After that, everything works fully offline.
- If a language shows as not ready, open it in the app's language settings and allow the download to finish while online.
No sound, or translations aren't spoken
- Check the ring/silent switch and volume on the listening phone.
- Spoken playback uses the voices installed on each phone. You can choose a different voice per language in TeamRelay's settings, and install higher-quality voices in iOS Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices.
- If the microphone won't record, check iOS Settings → Apps → TeamRelay → Microphone, and that Speech Recognition is allowed.
Participants and plans
- Free: up to 3 people in a session (you and 2 others), with every feature and all 14 languages.
- Personal: up to 6 people in a session (you and 5 others). Monthly or annual, billed through the App Store.
- Pro: up to 25 people in a session (you and 24 others). Monthly or annual, billed through the App Store.
- If a session is full, the host's plan decides the limit; people already connected are never dropped mid-session.
Subscriptions, restores and refunds
- Subscriptions are billed and managed by Apple. To manage or cancel: iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or the Manage Subscription link inside the app.
- Bought a plan on another device? Use Restore Purchases in the app's subscription screen.
- Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Privacy
TeamRelay has no accounts, no analytics and no servers handling your conversations; speech, translation and playback happen on the phones in the room. Details are in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
Requirements
TeamRelay requires iOS 26 or later and runs on iPhone and iPad. Sessions connect over local WiFi or Bluetooth; no internet connection is needed once your languages are downloaded. TeamRelay is a free download on the App Store.
